Great fencing club you can find in NJ and Mercer county area for beginner to advanced level! Coach John Friedberg knows exactly how to train kids while keeping it fun and reasonable. He keeps them focused, challenged and his energy is contagious. Great to learn from an ex-US Olympian and won many Sabre NCAA and US national championships.

My 10 year old daughter just started fencing 2 weeks ago and absolutely loves it! She has learned so much in a short time from Coach John and thinks he is funny, as well as nice. As a mom, I had questions and concerns but Coach John reassured me and said that this is a fun sport and he was right! I enjoy watching my daughter learn this interesting sport and I love how Coach John interacts with the kids! We are very happy and I hope she enjoys this sports for years to come!

Coach John is a great coach. My kids started and have been training at FCMC for many years. Along the way Coach John has always been very nice, patient, and encouraging, which made going to the classes a very enjoyable experience. Both my kids benefited greatly from their training with Coach John. My son got accepted by his dream school, and my daughter has won bronze medal at NAC and numerous top 8 finishes at super regional and regionals.

Worth the extra drive! This isn’t the closest club for us but it’s worth the inconvenience for the excellence in quality of coaching and the friendly and inclusive atmosphere at the club. Coach John is a natural teacher and is dedicated to encouraging his kids. He teaches more than technique and strategy, as he fosters a respect for participation, effort and good sportsmanship. The club scrimmages are great fun and especially encouraging to new fencers not yet ready for the bigger competitions. My kid wasn’t keen to compete, but he’s now having fun at tournaments. This is a great club for your kid to learn at their own pace and in a friendly environment where winning is celebrated but so is losing admirably and giving your best!

Coach John is amazing! My son decided that he wanted to learn fencing. To find the right program and coach for him, I did some research and found the Fencing Club of Mercer County (FCMC). After meeting with John, I decided to attend a few of sessions before making a commitment. Well, it has been a month and my son is enrolled in the fall session. He absolutely loves fencing! Coach John is knowledgeable, patient, and has a great sense of humor which makes the classes fun! I can go on, but to have my son taught by an Olympian...priceless.
