Third time here; first time we tried the beef wellington and it was fantastic, later we found out they had a special for that on Mondays. Then the second and third time was for happy hour. The oysters are fresh and $2 a piece, they’re very delicious! The steak tartare is my personal favourite. The mini Yorkshire’s are delicious but one is definitely sufficient (a little heavy but worth it). Hand rolls are fresh and yummy, seasoned well; wagyu hot stone very delicious & quite indulgent (7 small pieces, though yummy- $34 is a lil pricey). Calamari is delicious, would order again. House wines (both red and white) 10/10. Lychee saketini(?) was good after the ice cooled the drink down. Don’t order the fried chicken or the lobster roll; not worth it and not good lol- otherwise 5 stars! Tristan is funny and provided amazing service during our third visit.

Despite the crazy storm raging across Toronto last night, stepping into Black+Blue was like entering a warm, vibrant haven. We gathered as two families to celebrate a truly special milestone—our kids embarking on their university journey at UofT! The food was beyond exceptional. Highlights for our table of five: Beef Wellington: Absolutely divine! Tender, juicy, and beautifully encased in flaky pastry. 47oz Tomahawk: A total showstopper—cooked to perfection with incredible flavor, perfect for sharing! Appetizers: Both the Steak Tartare and Beef Carpaccio were super fresh, rich, and impeccably seasoned. Desserts: We wrapped up with the divine B+B Butter Cake and Dark Chocolate Torte. A heartwarming detail was that the restaurant surprised us by writing “Good luck UofT” in chocolate script on the dessert plate, which meant the world to us and the kids! Our server Alison was attentive, professional, and made us feel so well cared for throughout the evening. Thank you, Black+Blue, for making our celebration so memorable. We’ll definitely be back!

I had a fantastic experience at black + blue. My partner took me here to celebrate my milestone birthday so I thought I would review the dishes we tried: 1. Jumbo cocktail shrimp: Jumbo and quite delicious - especially if you are a big fan of the Costco cocktail shrimp (which I am!). Never seen a shrimp bigger than this and the flavours were fantastic. Perfectly grilled with great sauce pairings: The presentation was also amazing as it had a dry ice effect which I thoroughly enjoyed. 2. Beef Wellington: perfectly cooked, and it was my first time trying a Wellington and it did not disappoint: The servers carve/serve a big Wellington into two for a very satisfying dining experience. Great cook (medium rare) and flavour on the beef, and the pastry was perfectly crispy and it was a fantastic first experience. I expected the sauces to absorb into the pastry and become soggy, but that was not the case. Although the portion served was quite sizeable - I would have loved an entire one to myself. 3. While I enjoyed both desserts, the Soufflé was the star! It was a dining experience in itself, and I would pick it 10/10 times vs the chocolate cake. The chocolate cake was heavy would be my only critique , as it tasted more like a heavy ganache cake that didn’t have the same balance as every other course served. The service was fantastic, the ambience was lovely and I would definitely return for another fantastic dining experience.

I have to point out how good the apps are here however the steaks on the other hand were extremely disappointing. We ordered the oysters which were very fresh, the crab cakes and sushi which was absolutely amazing. All were absolutely delicious and fresh. Our sides were equally tasty with the lobster mac and cheese, romanoff potatoes gratin and asparagus. When it came to the steaks the NY strip and ribeye. The ribeye arrive burnt and very unappealing which by the time I ate half it was dry, I had ordered a medium rare. The NY striploin was cook perfectly however it was one of the toughest, chewiest piece of steak I have ever had. My wife couldn't even finish half as it due to how tough it was. Although our server was extremely friendly she did not ask why my wife left half her steak with zero interest in taking the remaining home and also didn't take notice to all the burnt pieces left on my plate. If you're going to Black and Blue for their wine selection or appetizers, I would recommend this location. If you're looking for a more upbeat environment Black and Blue will also satisfy. However, if you're going for the best steaks in Toronto, I wouldn't put Black and Blue in my top 5. I snapped a few pictures of our apps but when our steaks arrived and I saw my sad burnt ribeye, I completely lost interest and did not take anymore pics.

Signature Butter Cake - 10/10. This was divine. Must try/get. If you like dessert and a sweet tooth. Beef Tartare - 9.5/10. Delicious, had two. Try it for yourself. Surf and Turf - 9/10. The mashpotatoe was absolutely stunning. It was creamy and smooth. Dawn our server - 10/10 was super attentive and funny! Really love how there was a welcoming cocktail. Will come again.
