Passerelle earns its reputation on the patio. Tables sit right at the edge of Falls Park, looking out on the Reedy River waterfall, and on a warm afternoon with the accordion playing it is about the closest thing Greenville has to a sidewalk cafe in France. When the weather turns, the small dining room inside is warm and close, and the covered patio is heated to stretch the season.
The kitchen keeps to French bistro classics with a local streak: steak frites, croque monsieur, bouillabaisse, and the signature Mussels Passerelle, steamed in white wine and saffron broth. There is lunch and dinner through the week and a busy weekend brunch. It is family-run these days, bought out of Greenville's Table 301 group in 2021 by Michael Minelli, with his wife Jenifer as executive chef. The coffee creme brulee has a following of its own.
The name is French for footbridge, a nod to the Liberty Bridge arcing over the park just beside it, and that setting is the whole idea: the place to land for lunch on a walk through Falls Park, or to open a warm evening in the West End.
