From the red carpet to the linen table booths, Yang Chow is an old school restaurant serving Chinese American dishes like moo shu pancakes, lo mein and kung pao. While they are known for their slippery shrimp, which is really good, my favorite and go to dish is good old old kung pao chicken — minus the peanuts. It hits every time. This place can get busy, but there are plenty of shops in the area to visit while you wait. The staff moves quick, but friendly. Prices are decent and while very old school, the place is always clean. Tip: If you have time to spare love, and love old school Kung Fun movies, make your way down to the Chinatown Central Plaza and check out the Bruce Lee statue. It's about a 10-15 minute walk from the restaurant.
Our family goes here every Feb to celebrate two b-days. The food and service is always great but have noticed within the last few years that it's looking a little run down outside. At a minimum they should replace the cloth awnings. Parking can be a challenge when they get busy, we typically go when they open so it's not too bad. As for food, would definitely recommend their slippery shrimp, this is always a treat when we go here 😁
Pretty old school restaurant with white table cloths and table side service. Dinner on a Saturday night was pretty packed so the wait was awhile. Once sat though the service was quick and the food came out even faster. The best things we ate were the Moo Shu chicken wraps, they were very savory and flavorful. The slippery shrimp was definitely memorable and apparently iconic- and I can see why! The texture was so satisfying and reminded me of corn nuts but in a good way? The rest of the dishes were pretty standard, but overall it was a nice family meal !
Sizzling platter with scallops and eggplant with brown sauce spot on. Egg drop soup was so/so. If you’re in the area it a must stop.
Food is always great every time we go and we get plenty to take home for leftovers.
