Dumont is a locally owned creamery first, and the pull is a case of handcrafted ice cream that runs well past vanilla and chocolate. Next to the classics sit genuinely unusual scoops, from Hokey Pokey, a New Zealand style vanilla laced with caramel toffee, to Cake and Jam, Kheer, and Mascarpone Raspberry. A tasting flight is the easy way to sample several at once, and reviewers point to it as the move on a first visit.
The cafe side holds its own. The bar turns out specialty drinks like a strawberry matcha latte and a date cardamom latte, a long run of bubble teas from taro to white peach green milk tea, and coffee brewed from shade grown Karafa beans. Much of the tea menu comes in dairy or non dairy versions, so the inventive flavors stay open to people skipping milk.
The room is set up for lingering rather than a quick grab and go. Visitors describe comfortable padded seating, a couple of living room style corners, and board games left out on the tables, which makes it an easy landing spot with kids or a group.
